The Mage’s Cradle is told in three volumes

In the Father’s Shadow
For centuries, the Murloks of the Murlstrom have used dark magic, cruelty, and betrayal to gain dominance. The malicious and much-feared ruler of the Murloks Yuortric De Rigothor, the Kroeten, rules over all with totalitarian supremacy. Struggling to understand his burgeoning magic, Togan, a young Murlok, undertakes a desperate escape from the Kroeten’s kingdom before his unique Abilities get him killed. Still, he would soon find that fear of his kind and heritage precedes him in the battle-torn world.
Standing against the conquerors, the people of Dinota are the last bastion of freedom against the forces of the Murlstrom. Under siege, Captain Jisra, and her ally the Mage Dythan suspect betrayal from within.
The greatest villains become the greatest heroes, and those who should protect the weak are the first ones to abuse them. Mistakes are made that cost lives, and through self-discovery, the fallen find redemption. Togan, the Murlok, who is also the youngest child of the Kroeten, discovers that he is a good person despite himself.
Dythan’s Tower
Against the tenets of all that is possible, Togan has found himself inside the Dinotian Shield. But even as he renounces his dark heritage and looks to settle into a quiet life, the war that rages demands his full attention, and he chooses sides. When he unintentionally comes to the attention of the Mage Dythan, he realizes that he must find a way to hide his true nature from the most powerful Mage in the realm. That becomes difficult when Dythan invites Togan to be his disciple in the magic of the Magurta.
Encountering the strong-willed and fierce Captain Jisra only complicates his life further as he soon realizes that she was the one that had appeared unbidden into his dream. Somehow their fates are entwined, and he needs to figure out how before his father’s agents in Dinota launch the final blow that will defeat the desperate defenders.

A Sister’s Sacrifice
Togan’s bitterness of his discovery crashes against the machinations of the Corratas who had been driving his destiny since before he was born. Yet, despite Jisra’s and Dythan’s fear of him, Togan finds that he is unwilling to leave them to their probable destruction. The people on both sides of the war are about to have their concept of the natural order of magic upended, and Togan’s discovery on top of Mount Tral will shift the balance of magic forever.
